Government will not interfere in the election of Chattogram City Corporation. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the people of Chattogram can vote for whomever they want. He said the government would extend full cooperation to the commission in playing an independent and authoritative role in holding free and fair elections.

Obaidul Quader said this at a regular briefing at his official residence on Monday,January 25 in the morning.

Stating that power is not permanent, Obaidul Quader said that life should be arranged as a political activist in the glory of sacrifice by avoiding the lust for enjoyment. At the same time, he called upon the leaders and workers of the Awami League and allied organizations to be dedicated to the service of the people without showing their power.

Obaidul Quader said the relentless struggle to build a prosperous Bangladesh must continue, adding that Bangabandhu’s dream of establishing a non-communal state and fighting against the enemies of democracy as well as purifying oneself must be taken forward. Those who want to push the country back, their misdeeds and conspiracies must be dealt with politically. And everyone must be united for that goal.
